Winter Workshop Registration

Winter Workshop fees:

Registration (non-refundable) $100

  • Abigail’s class: $495
  • Bar’s class: $395
  • Meals: $145 (includes 3 lunches, 3 dinners and 1 brunch)
  • Dinner and open bar Saturday night will be at Cucina on the east side of Woodstock. Students will order from the menu and pay their own bill and gratuity at the end of the night.
  • Lodging: Most of our students will stay at Twin Gables, Woodstock, NY, but there are other options depending on your needs (please be in touch if you want another choice). We will be shuttling students from Twin Gables to Abby’s in the morning,  so if possible, we hope you will stay there. For room rates, please call the Twin Gables directly, or contact us. Fee Due Dates

Pay in full by November 1, 2013 (or call us to arrange a payment schedule due in full by December 1st)

Cancellation Policy

All fees less the $100.00 registration fee are refundable in full if cancelled by December 1, 2012. Thereafter there will be a 20% cancellation fee. Students will be required to send written material to their teacher and classmates no later than December 12, 2012. Students who do not meet this deadline may be asked to withdraw. If this happens, the student will lose their entire tuition unless Twin Compass is able to fill their spot. If Twin Compass is able to fill their spot, the student will forfeit their registration plus 20%. Please, get your writing done and delivered to the rest of us on time so that this doesn’t happen. All students will send up to twelve pages and no more to their teacher and classmates by December 12. Twin Compass cannot be responsible for costs associated with students who have to withdraw for any reason.

In the event that one of our teachers is unable to attend for some reason beyond their control, Twin Compass will make every effort to replace them with a similarly qualified teacher.

Class Requirements: For both classes, students will be asked to send up to 12 pages of writing to their teacher and to the other writers in their group. These are due December 12th and are mandatory. Pages should be double-spaced in a 12-point font, preferably Times or New Roman, with standard margins. You’ll need to decide whether you want to send finished work to get encouragement to send to possible publishers, or, (our preference) send work that you are struggling with so that Abby, Bar, and your classmates can help you see how to strengthen what you’ve got. Please remember that pages must be sent by December 12th. Both Bar and Abby will be asking you to send hard copies of your pages to them. You will send email versions of your pages to your classmates. Remember that not sending pages, or sending pages late is grounds for a student being asked to withdraw. Please see our cancellation policy above. Thank you for your understanding on this. We will send all of the addresses you need a week before your pages will go out.

Important: New students will be asked to send a one-paragraph description of their project to Twin Compass after registration. Our purpose is to ensure that each student is registering for the right teacher, and that our workshops are a good fit for your project. If we believe there is a better fit with a different teacher, we will contact you.  A refund will be granted if you do not wish to continue.
